This is a great theme for girls of all ages.  What girl doesn't want to be a delicate and agile ballerina, or a most regal princess.

The Invite

The Princess Ballerina Party we're planning is a sleepover; it's a good idea to include a list of necessary items for the guests to bring with them.  Be it jammies, a movie, or a CD for them to have a dance off with.

This invitation from PaperMarc is exactly what I think a princess ballerina would look like, they also have the napkins, plates, cups, and treat bags in this design.

The Cake

What could be more princess like than this tower of cupcakes with a tulle skirt.  You can add your own No-Sew Tulle Table Skirt to any table by following the instructions in this following video.  Although it's instructing you on how to make a tutu...I think it would be very easy to adapt it to a table skirt for your princess ballerina party.  Or you can just use ours!

The Decorations

These charming little tissue pom-poms are popping up in many of my parties only because of their affordability to make and also the ease of this project...for the DIY instructions click on this link marthastewart.com

With this theme my mind has been whirring with thoughts.  As of right now I'm about to run out and buy all the tulle I can find.  It's an easy decorators tool, for bows, swags, and of course for tutu's!  Since I live in the Valley of The Sun, I plan many of my parties around our warm weather, this could easily be transformed into a more traditional tea party when the weather cools.  But, my niece's birthday is the day after Independence Day, and it's guaranteed to be a hot one!

Princess-ification Station

It's always good to have separate "stations" for the guests, it streamlines the party and helps you keep on schedule.  A favorite is the dress up station, have a few parents arrive early and set up areas where the girls can have their hair done, face painted, and don a pretty tutu for the event.  You can have each girl bring their favorite dress...or make each one their very own tutu to take home as a memento of the day.

Craft Station

Another good idea is to have a craft station...bracelets, tiaras, or (my favorite idea) picture frames (have guests and birthday girl take a group shot and upload it to walgreens.com.  You can order them online and pick them up the next morning before they leave).  Glitter glue, foam stickers, markers, and faux gems (all easily purchased at your local party supply store or online at orientaltrading.com)

The Menu

July...

Just so happens to be one of the hottest months in Phoenix...and so there's no better dessert treat than ice cream to cool you off.  A simple idea that gives you a big bang for your buck is to create an ice cream buffet.  Have each child bring a bag of candy (M&M's, skittles, etc.), you can also have fruit, or nuts (make sure you know who has peanut allergies before you serve them!).  And to top it off whip cream and chocolate sauce.

The Favors

What is a Princess Ballerina without her tutu?  And fairy wings like those below also make a great decoration (just add them to the back of the chair)

A great way to greet your guests is with a personalized treat bag with a personalized drink bottle or cup, craft items, and their very own tutu.  I am in love with these galvanized pails and they come in a rainbow of colors.  As you can see from my crude rendering, it's easy to glam them up with silk roses, stick on gems...add a favor tag and voila, it's fit for a princess.
